Tanner Craswell and Mitch MacLean Memorial Fund

The Lethbridge Bulls, the Prairie Baseball Academy, and the Vauxhall Academy of Baseball have come together to establish the “Tanner Craswell and Mitch MacLean Memorial Fund.” The fund has been established for anyone wishing to donate. All donations will go to help the families of Tanner and Mitch. Any remaining proceeds will go towards a legacy scholarship fund for Tanner’s and Mitch’s former teammates and future players of the 3 organizations the players have been members of. A representative from each organization along with the families will organize the disbursement of all funds donated. The entire Southern Alberta Baseball Community thanks you for your support.

The 2011 Teaching for Tomorrow Baseball School has cancelled all camps due to unforseen circumstances. We are sorry for the inconvience this may have caused anyone.

 

 

 

2011 Teaching for Tomorrow Baseball School Update

The first camp of the Teaching for Tomorrow Baseball School is fast approaching and there are still spots available in the camp, the first camp is from July 11-15, 2011 and is geared for ages 10-12. The camp is an excellent opportunity for all baseball players. The Teaching For Tomorrow Little League Baseball School allows for youth to take advantage of some of the best coaches that Alberta has to offer, it offers an opportunity for players to not only learn baseball skills and drills, but also teaching the players the importance of hard work, discipline, good sportsmanship and team loyalty.

There will be two other camps this summer offered by the Teaching for Tomorrow Baseball School if you don’t fall into the 10-12 year olds age category, the next camp will be taking place on August 7-12, 2011 and this camp is geared towards 12 – 15 year olds, this camp is more of a camp focused on advanced development, and a final camp will be taking place from August 14-19, 2011 and this camp is geared towards 13 – 17 years olds, it is more of a high performance camp.

Todd Hubka and Ryan McDonald; both of these coaches also coach for the Prairie Baseball Academy a college baseball program based out of Lethbridge.

2015 Western Canada Summer Games Selection Committee in Lethbridge

The selection committee for the 2015 Western Canada Summer Games was in Lethbridge on May 30, 2011 checking out the facilities in the city to make a selection on the location of the 2015 Western Canada Summer Games. The selection committee was at Spitz Stadium May 30 at 10:30 and from there moved on to various locations through out the city. The bid proposal for the 2015 Western Canada Summer Games was developed by the Lethbridge Sport Council, planning for the bid tour began back in April, the goal of the bid tour is to showcase many of the wonderful facilities that Lethbridge has to offer, in hopes that Lethbridge is selected to host the 2015 Western Canada Summer Games. The city of Lethbridge is an ideal city to host the games it can be visited for both adventure and relaxation, combining numerous attractions and events with comfortable lodging, extensive shopping opportunities, a wide range of dining establishments and services, and a historical downtown to make your visit one to remember.

 

Al Herback set to Coach at 2011 Teaching for Tomorrow Summer Camps!

The Teaching for Tomorrow Baseball School is proud to announce that Al Herback, Little League Canada’s national coach is set to coach at the Teaching for Tomorrow Baseball Camps through out July and August 2011. Al Herback has been involved in baseball clinics for youth since 1972, this past year Al has been presenting Teaching for Tomorrow Clinics across the country, the clinics focus on the community and the lives of the children as well as teaching them how to play the game. Al has many accolades some of which are being inducted into the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame in 2008, he was featured on Blue Jay and Expo telecast giving seventh inning tips for players, in 1988 Al was one of the first instructors to introduce baseball to the Soviet Union, and camps that Al has developed have been implemented in Little Leagues across North America. Having Al been involved in the 2011 Teaching for Tomorrow Baseball School is a great honor for the school and for Little League Alberta. The Rocky Mountain Baseball School has changed its name to the Teaching For Tomorrow Little League Baseball School for the upcoming 2011 camps, the Teaching For Tomorrow Little League Baseball School is focused on not only baseball skills and drills, but also teaching the players the importance of hard work, discipline, good sportsmanship and team loyalty. The Teaching For Tomorrow Little League Baseball School allows for little league players to take advantage of some of the best coaches that Alberta has to offer in three different camps through out the summer.

 

            Camp #1: 10-12 year olds – Skill Development             July 10-15/11

 

            Camp #2: 12-15 year olds – Advanced Development  August 7-12/11

 

            Camp #3: 13-17 year olds – High Performance         August 14-19/11

Lethbridge to Host 2011 Junior Little League Championship

Lethbridge will be hosting the Junior Little League Canadian Championships for a second consecutive year. All Little League Alberta teams will be vying for the chance to represent the Prairies in the Canadian championships. The championships are scheduled to start on August 2 and continue through till August 11. These championships are for the some of the best 13 to 15 year olds to battle it out for gold, and for the right to a to represent Canada at the Junior Little League World Series in Taylor, Michigan. There will be 5 regions represented at the championships along with the host team; regions represented will be the Maritimes, British Columbia, Prairies, Ontario and Quebec. Lethbridge is proud to host this prestigious event. All are welcome to purchase tickets for the weekend and come and support your young athletes.
